The first Edinburgh International Marketing Festival is providing a creative twist by bringing itself to local offices on Wednesday August 23rd.
Edinburgh-based firms and organizations can invite leading creativity expert Andy Green to visit their workplaces to present his ‘One Man Pecha Kucha’ and also offer a creativity doctor service for any creative problems.
Pecha Kucha – which is Japanese for ‘chit chat’ – is a series of presentations using 20 Powerpoint slides, each showing for just 20 seconds. Normally, it features seven different speakers, but Andy will be condensing the knowledge from his five books, 30 years experience, 20 award wins, and an ear an eye for the funny, unusual and inspirational in the one man presentation.
The 49 minute event is designed for small groups – all that is required is a small meeting space, perhaps some coffee – and Andy will do the rest.
He is planning to travel around the Scottish Capital in his ‘world’s smallest conference centre’ where he will also be offering the equivalent of a creativity doctor service, offering free one-to-one consultations to help solve problems, spot new opportunities, and provide tips and advice to improve creative and flexible thinking skills.
The ‘One Man Pecha Kucha’ and ‘Creativity Doctor’ services are free – all you need to do is contact the Festival organisers on 0131 623 3040 or visit the festival web site on www.eimfest.com. Charitable donations are welcome if you want to take advantage of the opportunity.
Topics covered in his seven minute presentations include ‘Even less is more – how to achieve more in life, be a green shoot in the Upturn when you have less resources’, ‘Stupid Aid – is the world getting more stupid and how creative thinking is the nemesis of stupidity’, ‘How to turn your football team getting relegated into a promotion opportunity’ – why you are never more than 12ft from an opportunity’, and even ‘How to love the new tramway system in Edinburgh and other meme’ – the fundamentals of effective communications’.
Andy Green is an author and expert on creativity and brand communications and lectures around the world. His work has been translated into eight languages.
He is the founder of the Flexible Thinking Forum, a not-for-profit enterprise promoting flexible and creative thinking skills in business and the community and a director with Wakefield based GREEN Communications and Cardiff-based Working Word Communications.
